An individual who laced candy with sleeping medication and gave them to minors at a summer camp in the area has pleaded guilty to sexual crimes against two young males who were between nine and ten.

The 76-year-old, from that region, admitted guilt to a series of 17 offences when he stood at the judicial center on recently.

Yet, he denied a single sexual charge he was charged with, which was against a nine-year-old child.

The accused was kept in jail ahead of a additional proceeding on November 28th.

'Sweet game'

The legal representative, handling the case, described Ruben's offending to the judicial body.

She said his those affected were under-privileged children who were staying at a summer program which he ran.

The defendant engaged in a "sweet game" with the minors, the prosecutor stated, in which he would go into the sleeping quarters when they were preparing to sleep and request they to ingest treats "as fast as possible".

She told the court the man had engaged in this activity with the young males "for many years", and children had previously fallen ill the following morning.

She explained the man had been able to explain this for many years as the minors being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepchild had worries in recently.

The legal representative added: "Recently" his stepson had suspicions about what was going on, for good reason.

"They decided to examine in the man's possessions."

The legal counsel stated materials including infant oil, ointment and injection devices were located, and his stepson alerted the authorities about his suspicions.

She stated Ruben went on to engage in the "sweet game" with six boys that evening - Saturday 26 July - and they were all ill the following morning.

"Authorities" had not gone out by that stage," she added.

The regulatory agency, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, previously told that it was reviewing law enforcement's management of the incident.

Mrs Prior stated the minors were struggling to walk due to their condition, so the family member called the authorities a second time.

She said Ruben then played the "candy game" in a space of five minors.
