Prince William Set to Attend UN Climate Conference in South America

Prince William is scheduled to attend the United Nations climate conference in South America during November, according to the royal household.

The father and son duo made a joint appearance on Thursday night at a gathering leading up to the environmental conference, which is set to be held in the northern Brazilian city of Belém.

The royal pair were participating in the museum gathering, marking an noteworthy combined presence at a climate summit preparatory event co-hosted by the British authorities.

Environmental Advocacy Dedication

King Charles has been a consistent supporter of protecting nature - and Prince William has taken on the baton, with his own environmental prize initiative, which will be held in Brazil before the UN meeting.

Palace insiders have described the Prince's participation at the upcoming climate summit as taking on an important role in "climate diplomacy".

Recent Engagements

The King and Prince of Wales, arriving together in the state Bentley, were welcomed participants featuring environmentalists, scientists, climate change campaigners, foreign representatives and politicians.

This engagement involved presentations together with President Emmanuel Macron of the French Republic and other world leaders at the Ocean Finance Summit in Monaco earlier this year.

The UN meeting will coincide with the the royal's Earthshot environmental awards, which will finish in the Brazilian city the previous day he participates in the COP summit on 6 November.

Last week the prince described the award contenders as "modern-day pioneers".

Monarch's Environmental Record

The monarch has been a influential participant at earlier environmental conferences, giving the opening address in Dubai for COP28, including the statement: "The Earth does not belong to us, we belong to the Earth".

"Throughout my life I've dedicated a substantial portion of my life trying to alert people to the existential threats confronting humanity over climate change, environmental shifts and species extinction," the sovereign addressed attendees.
