19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard surfaces

A comeback Medvedev won his maiden trophy for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a former number one, has endured a challenging season, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.

The player's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with former coach his previous coach.

Now training with Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested three-set victory over Frenchman Moutet.

It is the player's maiden trophy since the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court after spring of the previous year.

The win also means Medvedev has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"For the first time I am participating in a event with my two daughters at once, so to win a championship is especially meaningful," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I got when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had failed in his previous six finals, comprising in the German tournament earlier this year.

His counter-punching strategy and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had caused observers to question if his capacity to play at the top level was over.

But the player has altered his approach in the past month, striving to approach the net and play positively, backed up by an enhanced service.

Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, winning four of the concluding five games to go ahead.

Both players swapped break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his initial professional victory, took control to create a final set.

He rescued 4 early opportunities in a competitive final set before the champion broke to 15 to secure the win.

Suitably, the winner clinched victory with a rally at the net area, with his opponent failing to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
